21st Century Mystic

On a quest to complete 10,000 hours of self-transformation

I am a practical, 21st-century mystic. My quest is to embody higher states of consciousness as my natural way of being all the time, instead of just visiting them as a result of meditation. I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that authentic self transformation is achievable – it just takes work. Having already logged over 4,000 hours of self-transformative practices, ranging from meditation and authentic movement to Internal Family Systems, I know what effective practice looks like and over time I have been able to reap measurable results.

I’d like see how many hours of practice correlate with various personal growth landmarks. I will track not just hours of practice and training, but also outcomes as they unfold. The key thing for me is that the process is more important than the outcomes. I know, based on a decade of doing this kind of work, that by simply putting in the hours, the results will naturally arise.

Things that will count towards the 10,000 hours are my own personal practice or training in:

Dream Work (recording my dreams and working with the information they bring me)
Authentic Movement
Internal Family Systems
Meditation
Other modalities, possibly things I have not yet encountered

Training is important because one of the tenets of the 10,000 hour approach to becoming an expert is that you continually practice at the edge of your abilities. Without training, I will eventually plateau in my use of these methodologies, and plateauing means dropping out of real practice hours. I have found that a hard-core commitment to continuing education (workshops/training) in self-transformative methodologies is absolutely key to my capacity to continue to log quality practice hours.

My quest is ultimately about becoming the best human being I can be. It’s about rewiring my consciousness, upgrading my software as maximally as possible, and in doing so, modeling for others that it is possible. I want to explore the frontiers of human consciousness and share my discoveries with others. I truly believe that this kind of inner travel is just as exciting as visiting other countries and encountering new cultures – you just do it inside yourself. 10,000 hours of dedicated self transformation practice is akin to traveling a certain distance towards the light that is the spark within. How many light years away in the galaxy inside myself does that spark reside? Can it be reached in 10,000 hours? How close can I get to it? How much light can I accrue? The answer to these questions and more will be found along the way, as I pursue my quest to complete 10,000 hours of self transformation. This website will chart the journey.
