The part of me who loves my time on the mat (the Exercising Rooster) was sad. It felt intruded on and blocked from feeling that juicy, “this is all my time,” feeling.

Crocodile: There Is So Much To Do. It is official, hence it is capitalized. It’s not my problem that you want to exercise. How can we exercise when there is So Much To Do?

Exercising Rooster: I help you get things done. We sleep better when we exercise, so we have more energy to get things done during the day. Furthermore, lying awake in bed thinking about 1,000,001 ways to save the world is not an effective use of time. But if you keep me from exercising, the “save the world” parts will be more active at night. I help calm down the entire brain! How can you possibly be opposed to me? I think you’re insane. You have clearly gone off your rocker. I am totally your ally! How can you possibly be so blind to how awesome I am and how much I help you?! It is really frustrating to be your ally, when you don’t even know I’m your ally. I feel like Russia in World War II. 20 million people died so I could help the Allies stop Hitler, and what’s the thanks I get? No appreciation. I am feeling very angry and very unappreciated. Forget feeling sad. If you ask me, you should get your head screwed on better.

Crocodile: Wow, you are right. I get so caught up in all the things that need to be done, that I forget the larger picture. I totally agree with you – we sleep better and we eat better when we exercise. I’m really sorry I blocked you from feeling juicy when we started exercising today, and I’m glad that you were able to keep going and overcome my resistance. I really appreciate your reminder that we are allies. I apologize.

Exercising Rooster: (big sigh) I really appreciate that. I apologize for calling you names and for using a lot of “you” statements.

Crocodile: Well, it got your point across. I did need you to help me screw my head on better (laughing). I was off my rocker a little bit. Thanks for the re-adjustment.

Exercising rooster: You’re welcome. Also, I want to be called the Rooster of Physical Delights! Rooster, Ph.D for short! Ha ha ha!
